Date Night Austin: Fabi + Rosi
I know it can be difficult to make dinner plans with a foodie/food blogger, so I don't envy my boyfriend. Especially when I respond "I dunno" to the question "where do you want to go for dinner?" So, when he plans a date night, I try to go with the flow. Keyword TRY. But, when you do social media for a living, it can be really easy to get caught up in the hype of the NEW and the NOW. And, I'll admit that sometimes I can be a downright snob (and a bit of an asshole) when he suggests a place.
One of his favorite places to suggest, especially for a date night, is Fabi + Rosi. I have no clue why, but I never feel THAT excited to go eat there when he suggests it, but once we step through the door, I immediately remember that the quaint Lake Austin Blvd. European bistro is adorable AF and super delicious. (Maybe I should just trust him more, huh?)
First of all, the place is super cute, inside and out. Better yet, parking is super easy on the street or in the lot across the restaurant. Secondly, we've never waited more than 20 minutes for a table, even without a reservation on a Friday night. It almost makes me nervous for Fabi + Rosi! Thirdly, the servers are AWESOME. They're super friendly and very helpful. And, lastly the food is great. Oh, and did I mention that it's all pretty affordable too? Even the wine! Most of the entrees are $18-25 for big portions.
Tip: Start off with the escargot. It's buttery with beautiful consistency. During our latest trip, we shared an octopus pulpo salad special akin to ceviche. My boyfriend went with roast chicken, as he normally does, and I gulped down a sirloin and truffle fries with a beautiful haricot vert salad. And, oh, we shared a $30 bottle of wine. How great is that?!
Don't skip the krack pie. I ate it too quickly to take a photo (whoops!)--if that gives you any indication.
So, for your next date night in Austin, skip the hot and the new, and head to something tried and true, like Fabi + Rosi!
